Tesla Founder and CEO Elon Musk announced on his Twitter account that the Tesla gigafactory in Buffalo, New York will be reopened to produce ventilators for donation.
Musk’s announcement is in line with his statement during the previous week when he revealed plans to donate or produce ventilators – a necessary piece of medical equipment for the fight against COVID-19.
Giga New York will reopen for ventilator production as soon as humanly possible. We will do anything in our power to help the citizens of New York.

He also noted that Tesla is making progress, although he did not explain how far along the preparations are done and how long it will take before the gigafactory is ready to start production.
Making good progress. We will do whatever is needed to help in these difficult times.
